What's Drip Marketing

No, it’s not your fit. Drip marketing is a sequence marketing technique that is pre-planned and scheduled out. You’re basically sprinkling little reminders to your email list subscribers that you still exist. You can use this as a marketing technique to entice people to make purchases and engage with you.

How it works. I now use Flodesk, so I will refer to the technical terms by what they call them. When you want to setup a drip marketing campaign, Flodesk calls them workflows. I start a workflow and start designing my first campaign. You design it just like a regular email campaign that you want to send out. Once you go through all of the design steps, you will be brought back to the workflow section where you will be presented with the option to add another drip. You can keep doing this until you are satisfied with all of your drips. Don’t forget to set the timers on them.

Initially when someone signs up to my mailing list, they get an email instantly with my free guides and then since I only have one other drip set for now. I have my next drip set to send automatically after 3 days of the person signing up to my mailing list.

The drips keep you fresh in your audiences eyes for a set period of time, until the drip runs out. However, you can get creative with these drips and start segmenting people into different groups. Say someone bought a hat from you, you can start a segment of people that bought hats, so you can market more hat related things to them and setup drips for that. The opportunities with drip marketing are endless. It is tedious and time consuming to setup, but once it’s done, it’s good to go, and will run on its own. You rarely ever have to make changes. Brands can see an average of 48% increase in conversions with drip marketing.

For businesses that are just starting out with selling things to their audience. I recommend adding some sort of incentive into the drip campaign, a discount code, a free something, a bundled item. Just something small to entice your audience to make a purchase or engage with you.

For brands that are more established and do a lot of online sales, you would benefit more from ConvertKit. They have more advanced drip options that know what to do on their own. Below is an image of drip marketing that is automated based on how the receiver reacts to the email. This is something that can be setup with more advanced email campaign providers.
