It’s Time To Ditch Linktree & Other Platforms Like It

If you have a website, you do not need linktree at all. It was created for people that don’t have their own websites. Hopefully by the end of this, you’ll explore getting your own website instead of giving all of your traffic to a third party company, so you can make them rich and not you lol.

For those of you that might not be familiar, linktree is a platform that gives you an ugly URL and allows you to put a whole bunch of links on one page, so you can throw that ugly URL in your social media platform profiles. Mostly your Instagram pages, thats where linktree got its popularity. When I say ugly URL, it usually looks like something like this linktr.ee/whatever-you-put-here. Most of you probably think this isn’t so bad, but you are literally doing free marketing for a third party with little to no benefit to you. Everyone using linktree is creating brand recognition for linktree and not themselves.

Instead, what you should do, is create a hidden page on your website with all of your links. This way you are driving traffic to your own website improving your ranking, collect user data for retargeting, a chance to capture emails, people are landing on your actual website so there is a greater chance of them sticking around and viewing other pages which increases user time spent on your website.

If you don’t already have a website, I highly recommend getting one, so that you can start benefiting from the traffic. Yes, websites cost money, but if you take your branding seriously, you will be spending money regardless because linktree, although is free, is limited, you can’t customize very much on the free version. When you have your own website with a page with links, you can get creative with the layout and who doesn’t want to benefit from the things I mentioned above that help your overall reach.

Here is an example of a hidden page with your links, on your own website.

This is a simple example for your links. Right at the top the three lines is your website menu.

An example with links and a video. You can add your music a different background etc.

Here is direct access to the rest of your website right from the link page you had visitors land on.

Since I have pixels installed on my website, I am able to see behaviors, all of my website traffic is stored in one place. Those of you that have a website in addition to using linktree, you are dividing your statistics between platforms. Utilize the website you already pay for and maximize the benefits for yourself, ditch linktree and other platforms like it.
