Don’t Get Caught With The Square Favicon

Many brands use Squarespace, including myself and there is one small little detail about many brands from my experience, drop the ball on. That is the favicon. By default Squarespace has a black square box set as the favicon which is meant to be changed by yourself or web developer if they’re building your website for you.

A favicon is the tiny little icon that appears across tabs, bookmarks, short cut icons etc. It helps people identify what tab is what and helps to keep engraving your logo into people subconscious. In short, its good for branding!

Here is how you set your favicon with Squarspace:

Side note: I like to do 32x32 pixels because thats just how I was taught back in my day 🤣

Here you can see the favicons very clear even though they looked so blurry during optimization and uploading. Notice how all three are PNG files, they have no background color. I highly recommend PNG files for favicons.

Example of a favicon for a client. Also, you should check them out, their food is fiiire. @myleafcafe
